9D1B ARDROX

ARDROX 996 P is a red penetrating liquid that includes solvents, pigments, surfactants and inhibitors in its formulation.
ARDROX 996P meets the following specifications:
ARDROX 996 P is included in QPL-AMS 2644-1 Type 2 Method C
ARDROX 996 P is used in the inspection of welds, castings and forgings and in general throughout the metallurgical industry.
Pore detection is cited as a significant application.
The liquid penetrant inspection process requires a series of steps as follows:
- Pre-cleaning of ARDROX 996 P
Before applying the penetrant, the surface to be inspected must be perfectly clean after having removed rust, scale, paint, grease and in general any contaminant.
The cleaning process will depend on the type of contamination, material, size of the part, etc. Sometimes it is sufficient to use the ARDROX 9PR5 remover as a solvent in the previous cleaning.
- Application of the Penetrant of ARDROX 996 P
ARDROX 996 P can be applied by immersion or spray (conventional, electrostatic or aerosol), brush, etc. Any method is correct as long as the area to be inspected is covered by the penetrant. The penetrant will be allowed to remain in contact with the surface to be inspected between 15 and 40 minutes, although in most cases 20 minutes is sufficient.
- Elimination of excess Penetrant of ARDROX 996 P
The penetrant shall first be removed by means of a clean cloth. Then rub the surface with a cloth soaked with ARDROX 9 PR5. Do not direct the spray jet directly onto the surface being inspected.
- Application of the Developer of ARDROX 996 P
The developer layer must be applied very carefully to prevent its thickness from masking small defects. The most common developers are ARDROX 9 D1B and ARDROX 9 D1. These developers are solvent-based and evaporate quickly.
- Inspection of ARDROX 996 P
The inspection should be carried out immediately after applying the developer and after ten minutes. Cracks appear as continuous red lines and pores as red dots.
