What does the AC1 and AC3 usage category mean for TeSys contactors?

The contactor usage categories define the current connection and breakdown values depending on the type of controlled load and the operating cycle conditions.
AC-1: Applies to all AC devices with a power factor of at least 0.95. Example of use: resistive load, heating, distribution.
AC-3: Applies to squirrel cage motors where rupture occurs while the engine is running. Example of use: all squirrel cage motors, elevators, escalators, conveyor belts, bucket elevators, compressors, pumps, mixers, air conditioning units.
